Organic Beauty Products for 4 Different Skin Types13/03/2015
You probably have a rough idea what your skin type is, but matching that with the ideal combination of organic beauty products to meet your skin’s specific needs can be tricky. With so many options, it all gets a bit overwhelming, and it’s easy to forget not every product is meant for every skin type.
We’ve compiled a list of the most common skin types and what you need to look out for. Read on to make sure you get the best out of your organic beauty products so you’re left with glowing skin.
1. Organic Beauty Products for dry skin
If you’ve got dry skin, you’ll really feel the repercussions in winter and early spring when the cold is still biting. Drinking your recommended 8 glasses of water a day won’t cut it, you really have to be careful not to strip the natural oils from your skin.
Using a cream cleanser like Cleanse and Mend is ideal, as soapy cleansers will only dry your skin out more.
Skip the toner unless you really feel you need it, and go straight to moisturising with a rich cream or lotion, like Dream Creme. If your dry skin is also flaky, use a gentle facial scrub like Love a Scrub after cleansing to exfoliate away some of the dead skin. This is a gentle, but effective exfoliator.
2. If you have oily skin
Controlling oily skin is often a battle, and if you lose, you’re stuck with shiny, blemish-prone skin. So it’s worth trying to get it right! Dermatologists say that a very regular cleansing routine is key to keeping the oil at bay. Use Totally Balmy both in the morning and the evening for best results.
If you want something a little more intense, masks like Get Glowing can draw out the oils in your skin, but should be used only occasionally to prevent over drying. Serums like My Little Hero are excellent for oily skin as they help control the natural oil your skin produces. Over a 6 week period you will notice your skin extracting less oil resulting in a more balancing effect.
3. If you have combination skin
Combination skin can be difficult to deal
with. That’s because it typically means your skin is oily in your T-zone at the centre of your face, but dry or normal in other areas. Picking products that cater to the different extremes of your skin can be difficult.
Though it might sound more complicated, using different products on different parts of your face might be just what your skin needs. Use lighter weight liquids and gels on your T-zone, and put cream moisturisers, like Me Time, only on the driest parts of your skin.
4. If you have sensitive skin
Almost all skin types are sensitive in some respect, regardless of your primary skin type. Whether the weather, hormonal changes, or even changes in beauty products are affecting your skin, chances are it’s sensitive to something.
We’ve already looked at the benefits organic skincare offers acne-prone skin or those suffering with eczema, but the gentle, natural ingredients can do wonders for generally sensitive skin too. With VOYA’s seaweed skincare, the minerals and amino acids contained within our products from the fresh seaweed, help detoxify and re-mineralise your skin. This will increase your skin’s microcirculation, without using irritating chemicals to get the job done.
Picking up a starter set like 1, 2, 3 Glow is a good option if you like the sound of seaweed’s benefits, but your sensitive skin means products don’t always sit well with it. Natural, organic products shouldn’t cause your skin issues, plus, they’re handy sizes to have hanging about for travelling!
