We have been blessed with beautiful weather this week in Ireland and it finally feels like Summer! The beginning of Summer means it’s time to set the wheels in motion for a new routine. The change of season can affect us in many ways, but it is the perfect time to set yourself a new healthy routine.Preparation is key and we are here to help get you started with a few beauty tips for Summer!
4 Beauty tips for summer
Summer can be the best time of year if you just follow a few simple steps:
1. Book a holiday!
Booking a sun holiday gives us that motivation we need to get fit and healthy. Now that it’s summer we have no excuse not to drink plenty of water & exercise regularly!
Get out and walk, run, cycle or swim! A holiday at the end of the month is the perfect way to treat yourself for all your hard work getting fit and healthy. Exercise doesn’t always have to be dreaded. We mightn’t all get excited at the thought of running on a treadmill so find the form of exercise that suits you whether it’s walking, hiking, cycling, swimming, surfing, yoga or pilates. Invite a friend along for moral support and commit to a regular exercise routine.
2. Remove temptation!
Let’s be honest, we all do it. If there’s a cake in the house that needs to be eaten, I’m totally one of those people who will eat it just so that there’s no junk left in the house or to make space in the fridge. It’s easy to find an excuse!
So as a rule we try not to keep things around that we just can’t resist. If it isn’t there, I won’t have it! If you find your mind wandering to chocolate, sweets and cakes, busy yourself with something and you’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll lose the craving!
3. Show some skin!
Our top beauty tip for Summer is to show some skin! And after you’ve worked on your internal health, it’s time to begin working on the outside. Get your legs ready for the beach with our simple beauty tips for Summer:
1. To get the blood flowing & break down fat, use a body brush with a soft bristle brush before you shower in an upward & outward motion. Start at your feet & work up towards your heart.
.2. Shower with an organic Body Wash to remove toxins & other impurities from the skin.
4. Spice it Up!
I don’t know about you, but I find healthy eating really boring! I discover a healthy recipe and then keep making that same dish over and over until I’m bored of it and then I switch back to my unhealthy routine.
So I’ve been trying to make things more interesting by using different spices, vinegar and other low-sodium condiments every time.
As you probably know we’re big fans of seaweed so we love the Prannie Rhatigan Cookbook. The Surf Café Cookbook is also great for quick healthy recipes and tips on how to make the most of local produce. I also try to replace salt wherever I can with Seaweed flakes which are a great alternative and also lovely sprinkled on top of vegetables with spicy paprika for some added flavour.
