Creating the perfect natural beauty no-make-up look18/02/2015
Whether you’re keeping the make up to a minimum to let your outfit shine, or you’re just trying to keep it simple during the day, a natural beauty no-make-up make up look is a good go-to to have in your arsenal. If you get it right, not only will you not only will you look naturally fresh-faced, but it’s a whole lot less effort than a full face of slap in the morning! Here are some of our top tips on how to have everybody fooled by your natural make up look.
1. Make sure you’re keeping up with your cleansing routine
The key to keeping your natural beauty make up actually looking natural is more down to the prep you do than the make up you’re using. If you haven’t been taking care of your skin, there’s no way your make up will ever look completely natural.
Making sure you’re keeping your skin clean is top of the list of things to be doing. Using a gentle and natural cleanser like VOYA’s Cleanse and Mend will remove your make up and any other dirt or impurities to ensure your skin is kept clean and soft. A toner like Ritzy Spritzy will tighten your pores after, cooling and soothing your skin, and leaving it perfectly prepped for your moisturiser.
Even if you don’t have dry skin, keeping your skin properly moisturised is the key to keeping it smooth, soft and flawless. Choose a rich moisturiser like VOYA’s Dream Crème, which contains algae extract and is rich in almond oil. Both ingredients should work to ensure you wake up glowing. Press the cream into your face, rather than rubbing it in, to ensure you avoid breaking out from a pile up of product.
If your skin is a little drier or needs a little more help, a face mask applied once a week, like VOYA’s Maskerade, will work hard to keep your skin hydrated. Apply a serum like My Little Hero before the moisturiser, if you feel you need a little extra help daily!
3. Even out your skin tone
What base product you go for will really depend on the condition of your skin and the coverage you need. If your skin is looking fab after all that prep, just pop some concealer anywhere you feel needs it, rather than applying an all over base. For light coverage, choose a BB or CC cream that suits your needs. CC creams are great as they give you some coverage but let that important natural beauty shine through!
If you feel naked without a full foundation, go ahead but choose one with a dewy rather than matte finish. Just apply it quite lightly and as you need it, rather than lashing it on, to keep it looking natural. Make up artist Lisa Eldrige and beauty guru Tanya Burr have good advice in their youtube tutorials on natural make up looks.
4. Add a touch of colour
Foundation can wipe out the natural contours of your face, so it’s important to give your face a little shape so you don’t look like you’re wearing a mask – one of the few times more products will mean a more natural look! A cream blush applied lightly and blended well looks the most natural and is preferable to a powder blush. Use a highlighting powder or cream, again applied lightly, over the tops of your cheekbones, to give your skin a more dewy, glow-y, healthy look.
5. Finish with a lick of mascara and gloss
While mascara and lipgloss might give the game away that you’ve got make up on, you’ll still end up with a natural finish. The mascara will open your eyes up and make you look more awake, but opt for a brown rather than black mascara for a barely there look.
A lip balm will nourish your lips will giving you a slight gloss to them, but don’t be afraid to go the whole hog with a lipgloss. Choose a shade one lighter than your natural lip colour for the best results.
