VOYA’s Tips on Living Organically
Celebrate Organic Beauty Week this September
Today we are faced with a question, do we want to continue creating and supporting a chemically and genetically modified planet, or do we want to create an organic world? Going fully organic simply means; using products with a higher nutritional and natural value with the reassurance that are you helping the environment and protecting wildlife; so when you purchase you purchase with integrity. Currently, there are no legal standards for organic beauty so when cosmetics products that are labelled ‘organic’ ensure you look for the Soil Association symbol to make sure that what you’ve put on your body is as important as to what goes in it! Green juices, fitness, natural and organic products all equate to a healthier happier lifestyle.
14 – 21st September hosts Organic Beauty Week, in association with The Soil Association. Organic Beauty Week was first created to reach the mainstream beauty consumer and inform them about the benefits of going organic, both in life and in beauty. This year, The Soil Association has gone the extra mile by implementing the “Campaign for Clarity”, an enhanced digital campaign designed to not only build consumer awareness, but educate and motivate shoppers to switch up their beauty products and see the difference. What better time to convert! It’s important to consider not only what beauty product you put on your skin, but also the food you put into your body, as this is also reflected in the complexion. Leading and certified organic beauty brand, VOYA is a champion of natural and organic and has been specially created in harmony with nature. Hoping to draw awareness to the importance of an organic lifestyle, VOYA has put together their top five starting tips to help you on your way to going green this September.
1. Check ingredients lists.
The skin is the largest organ of the human body and 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed into the blood stream. Start small. Have a look through your beauty bag and go through the ingredients on the packaging of each product you own. If you’re not sure about an ingredient or the company doesn’t disclose further information, discard it.
2. Cull your beauty products.
With the average woman relying on 12 beauty products each day, hundreds of chemicals are instantly absorbed into the skin. Try to eliminate the use of surplus products reducing the amount of bad ingredients being absorbed. Even better – replace all products with organic and natural alternatives. This market is booming and there are plenty of results driven and effective products out there.
3. Shine from the inside out.
What you put into your body affects how you feel and also how you look on the outside. Did you know that in order to stop crops from being attacked by bugs and insects, pesticides are required to keep them away? As a result, non-organic foods contain a high presence of unnatural pesticides. Make sure you always look for the “organic” certification when in your local supermarket, meaning no unnatural compounds enter our food system.
The importance of exercise comes hand-in-hand with a healthy lifestyle. Start small – try swapping the lift for the stairs or walking rather than taking the bus and then as you become more active, try scheduling in a relaxing yoga class or run once a week. As your body becomes used to the physical exertion, the results will begin to show and it is inevitable you will feel better in yourself due to the ‘happy hormones’, endorphins, being released.
5. Grow your own.
Growing your own vegetables can be daunting but growing your own herbs is a simpler task to start your healthy lifestyle. With no need for a dedicated vegetable patch, the majority of herbs only need a sunny and sheltered environment, making them the perfect windowsill plant pot.
