Glowing Skin for your Wedding Day22/01/2016
Is 2016 the year you walk down the aisle? We know you don’t need us to tell you the days are counting down, as you’re probably already talking to photographers, drivers, bridesmaids and venues ten times a day, every day!
As you dive into the organisation process, remember these two important things:
1. It’s your day, it’s your happiness and that’s the most important thing.
2. The photos will live on your mother’s mantel piece for decades and on social media for eternity so you’ll want to bring to your ‘A Game’ down the aisle.
We’re sure you’ll be smiling from ear to ear with your spouse to be on your arm, but to give you even more of a glow, we’ve jotted down some pointers to get your skin just right on your chosen date.
Kick Start Your Routine
We reckon the best way to have your skin just the way you like it is to look after it yourself, but to give yourself a head start, book yourself in for a facial one month before the big day.
One part of your smile that you need to stay flawless is your lips. Start wearing lip balm that offers sunscreen protection to keep your lips from chapping and protects you from the elements.
One Month to Go
Skin has a 4-week cycle. In these four weeks the top layers of skin shed and make way for the bottom skin layers that push their way to the surface. Imagine that the bottom layer is your main focus. You’re going to treat that layer well for four weeks and then all your hard work will pay off at the end, butterfly style. There’s a science bit here.
Being healthy on the inside is the foundation for achieving that glowing look on the outside. It all starts with diet.
Your dress is the best supporting actress in your love story on your wedding day, but make sure you don’t alter your diet too drastically for that perfect fit, it could cause you problems elsewhere.
Crash diets can be very bad for your skin, so be sure to eat plenty of fruits, veg and protein in the months leading up to your wedding.
You still need to get those amino acids into your system to keep your skin in its best condition, so use fish, eggs and cheese as your main sources of protein.
The Power of Omega 3
All of this fantastic protein has the added benefit of omega 6 oil. But you also need omega 3 oil. It requires a bit more effort to get Omega 3 into your diet, you’ll have to start eating some of these foods: walnuts, linseeds, pumpkin and chia. Get to know your health food shop.
Water, Water Everywhere
You knew this one was coming! Sub out all your teas and coffees for ordinary boring water. Have the odd glass of wine but kick out spirits all together as they can lead to dryness of the skin. For moments of calm, breakout the chamomile.
Now that you’re eating the right foods and drinking enough fluids the last piece of the puzzle is sticking to a natural skincare routine. We recommend that you adopt a schedule like this on the weeks leading up to your wedding for maximum effect:
Fill a basin with luke warm water, wet your face with warm water, gently lather facial wash between your hands and massage onto the face and neck. Splash off with cool water and pat with a dry towel. We recommend Cast Away.
Three times a week: Facial Scrub
Gently apply 1-2 pumps to your face using light circular motions on areas such as the forehead, chin, nose and jaw line, avoiding contact with the eyes. Massage gently for one minute and then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Follow up with an organic moisturiser. We recommend Love a Scrub and Me Time.
Twice a week: Facial mask
Apply a thin layer of facial mask directly to your face and allow it soak in for 10 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Finally, pat the face with a soft dry towel. Follow this routine twice a week to rejuvenate tired skin. We recommend Get Glowing.
Now that you’ve achieved that glowing wedding day skin, be sure to wear a veil to add to the dramatic reveal of your enhanced natural beauty. We hope you enjoy your day, the crying aunties, and those well-deserved gasps in the chapel when everyone sees your gorgeous self.
