Looking After Your Skin In 2014: A Resolution To Keep14/01/2014
by Kira Walton
We are now two weeks into the New Year. How are all those resolutions going?
I know that for many ladies, looking after your skin is a very common resolution – and one that is very commonly chucked by the wayside come Paddy’s day (at the latest!).
The thing is, looking after your skin does not need to be a chore. It should be something you enjoy and get a lot of satisfaction out of. There is nothing quite like waking up to clear, soft, youthful skin day in, day out.
Here are some tips for looking after your skin and making sure you look your best for 2014…and beyond!
Cleanse, tone and moisturise
Yes, yes. We know you have been hearing about this one since you hit that period of raging hormones and greasy skin. BUT you would be surprised at the number of people who actually practice it – not enough!
As well as cleansing, toning and moisturising, you should use a facial scrub twice per week – just to get rid of any dead skin and to maintain a smooth complexion.

Get into a routine
It doesn’t take long to get into a routine of doing things. For the first week or two, cleansing, toning and moisturising every morning and evening may seem laborious (if you were not in the habit of doing it previously). However, you soon get into the swing of things. Morning time seems to be the issue for most. Why not go to bed an hour earlier (your skin will thank you for that too), and get up and little earlier in the morning to ensure you have ample time to treat your skin to the love it deserves? As the weeks pass, you will get quicker at looking after your skin and it will become less of a task.
Keeping hydrated is key to ensuring that the body functions as efficiently as possible. As soon as your body stops functioning as it should, it is usually very evident from looking at one’s skin. By drinking at least 2L of water per day, your skin will be glowing in no time! PLUS you will feel great!
Even going out for a simple walk leads to your body to release mood-lifting endorphins. These endorphins already help to increase blood flow to your vital organs…and your skin is one of those organs! Think of it as a way of feeding your skin from the inside.
For those of you who are familiar with stressed-out people, you will know that they look pale and their eyes are usually shadowed by a grey hue. Stress takes its toll on the skin so make sure to take adequate me-time to de-stress!
