Your Need to Know Moisturising Routine04/03/2016
Rid your moisturising rituals of bad habits. VOYA presents your ‘need to know’ morning and night moisturising routines.
We all know that time is precious in the morning and you might be in the habit of trying to get as much done the night before as possible, just to get an extra 15 minutes in bed. Take our word for it when we say moisturising is well worth the few minutes it takes out of your morning.
The first thing you need to know, is that you don’t have to scrub your face before moisturising every morning. You still want to remove any excess oils from the surface of your skin before you start, but an organic cleanser will do the trick here, especially if you’re just out of the shower.
There is often some confusion between moisturising and hydrating. Even if your moisturiser is water-based it might not give your skin all the hydration it needs. To cover all your bases, use a spritz toner and a face serum after cleansing to give your skin the extra boost it needs. for instant freshness and hydration. Apply directly to the face and neck, avoiding the eye area.
Now that you’ve cleansed, toned and applied serum, you’re ready to apply the moisturiser and to lock in the benefits of the previous two steps. Sticking with natural cosmetics, we recomend Ritzy Spritzy and My Little Hero.
If you’re using a good quality seaweed moisturiser such as VOYA’s Me Time you’ll only need to squeeze a pea sized amount onto the palm of your hands to take care of the whole of your face. At the very most you might need a second pea-sized blob. If you apply much more moisturiser than this, the skin may not be able to absorb it all, leaving the surface of your face feeling oily.
So to recap, your morning routine is:
Helping your Skin During the Day
During the day you can give your skin a hand by eating foods that are rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants can help fight rogue molecules in the body called free radicals. These free radicals can do damage to cells in the body and can be linked to ageing. Aim for foods that contain vitamins C, E and A.
Try and drink as much water as possible throughout the day and if you find you don’t have the thirst, try and eat some fruits that have a high water content such as oranges, apples and watermelon.
At the end of a long day you might feel like collapsing on the bed with your clothes still on, but if you can give up five more minutes to moisturising your skin will thank you for it.
Remove all of the day’s toxins from your pores with a seaweed-based face wash. Invest in a good-quality face wash that has dynamic ingredients such as Cast Away from VOYA.
Apply your face wash with warm water (not hot) and then rinse off with cool water.
If you feel that your skin is still a little dry form the day’s activities you can apply a spritz.
Next apply a few drops of facial serum. Use My Little Hero to add some nutrients and antioxidants to your skin.
The finishing touch before sleep is applying a night cream. Introducing a night cream to your routine can replenish and rejuvenate your skin in the sleeping hours and prevents the need for a hard scrub in the morning. For an added morning glow, you can use VOYA’s Dream Cream, which is uniquely rich in almond oil and blended with an extract of algae.
Always apply night cream to completely cleansed skin.
So now you have your evening ritual:
- Face wash
- Facial Serum
- Night Cream
Power of Seaweed Moisturiser
When you’re getting your products together for your routine, always think: natural cosmetics, organic cosmetic and seaweed. Seaweed brings can bring added benefits to the cleansing process. For example Cast Away from VOYA contains Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice, which can soothe skin and serve as an anti-inflammatory as well as giving it a good clean.
