It’s peak holiday season for Irish vacation makers and if you’re going away in the next few weeks you’re probably up to your eyes trying to get yourself beach ready.
Already this summer, we’ve covered how to pack correctly and even how to keep an eye on mindfulness during your holiday. Now we’re bringing you our top tips to help you put your best self forward before you leap into the sunshine for some much-needed RnR.
Here are our top pre-holiday treatments that will see you get your holiday off to a fabulous start.
Pre-Holiday Beauty Treatments
It’s safe to say that with the exception of the warm comforts of our houses we don’t get the chance to go barefoot too often in Ireland. Sitting around the pool and walking along the beach will be a different matter, meaning you’ll want to put your best foot forward. Treat your feet to a VOYA Foot Retreat.
This treatment recharges the circulation of the lower limbs and starts with a sea salt exfoliation from the knees to the feet. Once the exfoliation is complete, the recipient then undergoes a deeply relaxing leg massage. Post massage, a double action seaweed foot mask is applied and fresh leaves of seaweed are then wrapped around the legs for their natural anti-inflammatory properties. Even if you’re not going on holidays, if you just need to put your feet up (quite literally, this is the treatment for you). Two weeks before you depart, book yourself in for a pedicure. As well as dealing with dry skin, areas of hardness and cracked heels, a pedicure is also a handy way to keep your foot hygiene in check and to fight off any potential infections. Try and get this treatment done as far in advance as you can of your holiday, not letting it go past two weeks before you arrive at your destination. Experts suggest moisturising your feet intensively post pedicure, as the skin on your feet can be ten times harder than that of the rest of your body, making it more difficult to absorb moisture. VOYA’s Effervescence Body Scrub is also a handy piece of kit for your holiday wash bag to help you keep any dead cells building up on your newly polished feet.
Ensure you bring your best self away with you by looking after your body and mind with a relaxing seaweed wrap before you fly away.
Experience the calmness of a full body wrap complete with the healing power of seaweed when you go for a Tangle Me Up Body Wrap. This full body treatment rejuvenates your skin and with the help of a luxurious warm seaweed body mask which can help relax the muscles. The seaweed’s anti-oxidant properties also helps fight cellulite and can reduce the signs of aging. It’s also a great way to improve skin elasticity. Click to learn more about the Tangle Me Up Seaweed Wrap the treatments from our sister company VOYA Seaweed Baths.
If you’re planning on doing any waxing before you go on holidays, three days before you go is the ideal time to book an appointment. This time slot gives your skin more time to recover with enough space to apply a spray tan if you so desire. Post-wax, be sure to moisturise your skin every day. Freshly exposed skin follicles have the potential to be susceptible to infection. Continue to exfoliate and rinse waxed areas into the first week of your holiday.
If you’ve been lacking some Vitamin D exposure throughout the year and are looking to get a start on your holiday tan, then a spray tan is your safest option (unless you have the free time and the location to sunbathe out the back garden a few weeks before you go). Whether you choose to go for a tan ‘at home or away’ is up to you. Those trying out the self-tan practice for the first time may feel more comfortable leaving it to a professional to avoid streaking or white lines.
If you’re a dab hand at this by now but are still on the look out for a suitable product to try out, one product championed by fashion and beauty bloggers are items from the Bellamianta range.
If this is the route you plan to take you can follow these tanning tips from Bellamianta :
- Wax 48 hours or shave 24 hours before to allow your skin’s pores to close.
- Exfoliate before you tan.
- Shower with an unscented shower gel such as Sanex 30 minutes before tanning.
- Pre-moisturise area of hard skin like heels and elbows etc. to make it easier to remove form these tough spots later.
Now that you’re looking fabulous and are ready to go, be sure to pop the VOYA Voyager travelling kit in your bag to help keep your skincare routine going on your travels.
