LET'S TALK MOTIVATION AND HOW TO GET MORE ENERGY
Manage Energy Levels
Keeping your natural energy balanced and your motivation levels heightened can feel like a game of cat and mouse, constant pursuit, near captures, and repeated escapes.
It’s normal to feel utterly exhausted this time of year even if you’re usually a high-energy person. Resolutions and more resolutions, beating yourself up about getting your life back on track, your derriere back in place, saving money, meeting deadlines and you’ve noticed that at least twice a day you drift off to that beach-y summer holiday you had in 2006.
Ring any bells? Don’t worry we’re all in the same boat.
VOYA organic beauty, we have decided to pull together some really simple and attainable tips to help you feel equipped to handle this time of year and give you the motivation to sustain actions that help you feel happy, healthy, and energised! It’s time to stop deliberating about managing your energy levels and get to it.
Your well-being and energy are your natural power and we all know once you feel full of energy you are your best self.
Where to find it?
Well, that’s the easy part, your natural energy is already within you. All you need to do is conjure it up and sustain it. You will feel at your most powerful when your life balance is on point. Work enough to stimulate but not frazzle yourself, eat right, stay hydrated, get enough sleep and stay positive. We’ve pulled together some top tips for you.
The Five S’s – Tips for Staying Energized
Stimulation
Stimulate your brain by constantly feeding it new and stimulating content. It’ s the part of our body that we constantly use, yet it’s also the one that we neglect. Brain negligence can act as an energy drain. Read an interesting book or practice mindfulness before bed, focus on the here and now. Listening to some beautiful music in the mornings will awaken your senses and feed your brain something pleasant before you go to work, music can act as a pleasant escapism that inspires creativity. Stimulation is key to feeling energised, you already know what stimulates you so take time to be kind to your brain.
Avoid Energy Stealers
You and your well-being are made up of water, muscle, oxygen, feelings and natural energy. “We are all connected; To each other, biologically. To the earth, chemically. To the rest of the universe atomically.” ― Neil deGrasse Tyson. Don’t give away too much of your energy to others. Your positive energy is your own and should be kept for your loved ones, your passions and work. Ensure you don’t allow others to drain it from you with negativity, stay positive and purposeful throughout your day! You don’t want to waste time with jouksa during your day either. (Jouksa meaning: a hypothetical conversation that you compulsively play out in your head). Negative thoughts turn into emotions and steal your energy, banish them immediately. Be gone!
Sleep and Spin
When you don’t get enough rest, all kinds of bad things happen. Grumpiness ensues, your ability to handle stressful situations and your morale depletes. And, according to some research, you may even gain weight.
If you haven’t started a class or regularly walk your pooch, you need to start ASAP. Regular exercise of any type will help boost energy levels. Oxygenates in your blood are stimulated with movement which creates more oxygen and energy in the body, whether it’s an evening stroll, a spin class or boogieing to Zumba beats; if you get the blood flowing it will directly increase energy levels. Don’t forget to drink water all day too this is another great tip and a needed one this time of year. Water is an amazing energy replenished.
Smoothies
We all know that a healthy diet is vital to boosting energy levels and maintaining them, VOYA recently suggested some handy smoothie recipes for a midday energy boost! Check out this lemon kale and lime smoothie recipe:
Lemon, Kale and Lime Smoothie
When you look at a list of fruits and foods that are supposedly good for your liver, it can be hard to spot an obvious combination of ingredients that will do the job but still taste nice. Here’s a lemon and lime combo that works well with kale. Read more about our revitalising and detoxing smoothies.
- 1/2 cucumber
- 300g kale
- 1 lime, peeled.
- 200g Swiss chard
- 1/2 lemon, peeled.
Stretch and Bathe!
Begin your morning with a stretch and end it with a seaweed bath. In the morning, your body has been rigid and still for hours. Start the day with a few gentle stretches to allow the energy back in and ease yourself into the day. This will stimulate your body and more specifically your nervous system which will make you more aware and energized.
In the evenings, you need to take time out to relax, detox and look after yourself. When you immerse yourself in the hot waters of a seaweed bath, you’re treating every inch of your body to the numerous benefits that you might currently enjoy with your seaweed-based cosmetics. It’s been scientifically proven that the best way to allow your body to capture the nutrient-rich seaweed is to have a preliminary steam treatment.
This will open your pores and allow your body to absorb the minerals better. The Iodine-Protein complexes which are prevalent in seaweed are essential for the thyroid gland, to regulate the body’s metabolism.
An under-active thyroid can lead to weight gain, fatigue, cold sensitivity, loss of hair and slow pulse. The WHO classifies Ireland as an area of borderline dietary iodine deficiency and says that Ireland’s intake is well below recommended levels.
For 50 minutes you will soak in a noise free environment that will allow you to relax and rejuvenate, you will feel energised the next day as you will sleep much better!
